Surfing the Moroccan Waves

Whether you’re a surfer or not, if you’re looking for waves, Taghazout is definitely somewhere to check out. This is only the second time I’ve surfed and so I’m very much a beginner but there were surfers of all levels out there, including locals. The winter months see waves of 8ft+!

I joined a group of lovely people and had a great week of surfing. Can’t say the waves were always nice to me.. (had a couple of surfboard to the head moments) but when you actually get on a wave and riding it like weeeeee~~ its so much fun!

I previously went to Morocco in 2009. However, despite staying within the surfing community on this occasion, I was still able to experience the culture. I visited a local market, ate moroccan cuisine and took a trip to Paradise Valley.

I love combining travelling with learning/improving a skill; and I have more plans coming up. The main thing I’ve learnt from this visit is that surfing is addictive!

Are you a surfer? Any recommendations?
